Currently Reading!

I know I said I wasn't going to have time to read books now that I've started school and math seems to drop homework in my lap. Each assignment is due in two days after. It's been assigned HUH? Now I'm not a brainiac on math but I do okay but some things just take awhile to sink into my full creativity/anatomy & physiology/want-to-read/want-to-write/and-focus-on-math BRAIN.

Yes a lot goes on in my Brain . . . MEEEOOOWWW let's move on,

Disconnect (Divided Worlds, #1)I'm still reading Disconnected (Divided World #1) for the Divided World Tours, I have an excerpt coming up on Friday September  6th that is organized by Xpresso Books Tour  I also will be posting the book review on the same post. So goal this weekend? Finished the book and continue writing the review.

Omens (Cainsville, #1)
Now my Litterbox came with a new book! Omens by Kelley Armstrong, now I've never read anything by her but when I heard about Omens it drew me in. I mean how could you not with the title or the cover?

I've barely begun it but I'm much further into the book that I thought, it's that good! I'm not playing with just any "toys" I'm playing with a catnip filled toy. Achoo! Sniff, Sniff.

Note: I've barely made a dent into the book but its catnip worthy to play with over and over again.   Plus there's a Cainsville Files, App

First ever interactive story for Kelley Armstrong–and Penguin–out now
A little quip about it
Cainsville Files features Jenn McCoy, a struggling private investigator who finds herself searching for her missing high-school sweetheart—possibly a victim of the notorious Valentine Killer. The gamer’s choices will either help Jenn solve the case—or doom her to a number of tricky fates!
Both new readers and devoted fans will be able to absorb the exciting plot choices offered as the book and the game have been designed as stand-alone works; however, there is plenty of fun crossover for those who have read the book

So that all I have to say for now :-)

Blogger Times: Review & Hiatus

Sadly this will be one of the few blogging I will do since school is starting but I'm just letting you know that while I may be absent, I'll still try to blog every once in awhile.

My two topic today is Reviewing and Hiatus . . .

Reviewing
Blogging is something I love to do along with reading books however one thing that will always remain a challenge is reviewing. Yeah you think it's easy but it not when you are struggling to find the words and give a brief inside look of a book. Plus you don't want to spoil things, but my problem is determining what's a spoiler and what's not. I'm working hard on re-creating my reviewing craft but then my next problem is having the time to read and review.
I do have two books that are going to be reviewed because I've read them or I'm a part of a blog tour, so I'm battling blogger fatigue as well.

So how about you? How do you review and what are some of your guidelines or rules you follow?

SassyCat on Hiatus
On to hiatus, I'll be starting school very quickly here and I doubt I'll have time to read but if I do get a chance to read that would be great! But those reviews will not be going up anytime after I read the book, time is permitted. As far as blogging like I do now may be minimum but I plan to do the books releases posts since I have a word doc with a list of books being release certain months and weeks. So I will on weekends be composing and scheduling them. Hopefully there'll be a few Mouse Watch as well. Just because my blog is going to be under a long cat nap,  I'm still 100% committed to my blog but now I have to commit to school.

So wish me good luck this semester and MEOW for now

Don't Look Now (Don't Turn Around) by Michelle Gagnon

Don't Look Now (PERSEF0NE, #2)The jaw-dropping sequel to breakout YA thriller Don't Turn Around, which Kirkus Reviews named a Best Book of the Year, calling it "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for teens, a surefire hit"

Noa Torsen is on the run. Having outsmarted the sinister corporation Pike & Dolan, Noa and her friend Zeke now move stealthily across the country, protecting runaways before they become test subjects for P&D's horrific experiments. Noa knows all too well what that feels like: Whatever they did to her has left her exhausted and scared.

Back in Boston, Peter anxiously follows Noa's movements from his computer, using his hacker skills to feed her the information she needs to stay alive. But he's desperate to do something more, especially when he learns what P&D has done to his ex-girlfriend Amanda.

Then, in an explosive confrontation, Noa and her team are trapped in the one place they thought was safe. It will take everything Noa and Peter have to bring down the corporation before it gets them first. And with no one to trust and enemies hiding at every turn, they may be the only people alive who can.
This stunning second book in the critically acclaimed Don't Turn Around trilogy raises the stakes to their absolute limit and will leave readers begging for the exciting conclusion, Don't Let Go.

EXCERPT
Out of nowhere, his breath ran like warm water over the back of my neck. I closed my eyes for a moment, then forced them back open. No. Not Jaxon. Nothing for Jaxon.
“Now it’s Mr. Pierce, eh?” He put one of his large hands at the small of my back to lead me toward Xander’s office. “I think I’m going backwards.”
“You are backwards, Jaxon.”
He laughed and muscled around me, sliding far too much of his toned body against me as he moved past. His chiseled chest pressed against mine as he leaned in, inches from my mouth. I sucked in a breath to avoid his scent. No dice. It still overpowered me. His smile was evident even in the low light, and I bit my lip to keep from sighing. His hand brushed my cheek, and he ran a finger down the side of my neck, sending shivers through me. “If I were backwards, I’d be Noxaj,” he whispered huskily. “What kind of name is that? It’s not sexy at all.”
“I never said you were sexy,” I whispered as his hands roved through my hair at the base of my neck.
“No, no you didn’t…” His lips were on my neck. His hands worked down my back.
I stood there like a wet noodle, incapable of responding.
Do something! Touch him back! my brain screamed, but my body felt detached. Do something, or he’s going to think you’re on the relationship short bus.
He pulled away to search my eyes, but for what, I didn’t know.
I willed myself to give him something. Anything. An awkward grin, accompanied by a cough was all I could muster. Really, Avery? Seriously? I knew later replays of this moment in my mind, no matter how awful, wouldn’t compare to the actual event.

Quick Fix(In a Fix #2) by Linda Grimes

Quick Fix (In a Fix, #2)The second installment of the original urban fantasy series starring human chameleon Ciel Halligan

Ciel Halligan, an aura adaptor with a chameleon-like ability to step into the lives of her clients and fix their problems for them — as them — is working a job at the National Zoo with her boyfriend, Billy, and his ten-year-old sister, Molly. It's supposed to be a quick fix, giving her time to decide if it's wise to pursue the romantic relationship her charming scoundrel of a best friend wants, or if she should give Mark, the CIA spook she's crushed on since hormones first rattled her pubescent brain, a chance to step up to the plate.

Molly has already begun to show signs of being an adaptor herself. She's young for it, but she's always been precocious, so it's not impossible. What is impossible is her taking on the form of the baby orangutan she touches — adaptors can only project human auras. Until now, apparently. Worse, Molly is stuck in ape form. She can't change herself back.

Escaping from the zoo with their new baby orang, Ciel and Billy head for NYC and the only person they know can help: Ciel's brother James, a non-adaptor scientist who's determined to crack the aura adaptor genetic code. But when Billy winds up in jail, accused of attempted murder, Ciel begins to suspect Molly's unusual adapting ability is more than just a fluke. Who's been experimenting on Molly, and what do they hope to gain? And will Ciel survive to find out?

Novella Review: Never To Sleep

I'm finally am writing a review! after what, how many weeks? Well I apologize for that you see life is really been busy . . . getting prep for school, making time to hang with friends and long distance relatives. But anyway, I've recently purchase Soul Screamers Volume 3 about two weeks ago? and because I've already read If I DIE and BEFORE I WAKE, I haven't read Never To Sleep an novella from Sophie's POV.

Soul Screamers Volume Three (Soul Screamers #5, 5.5, 6) by

Soul Screamers Volume Three (Soul Screamers #5, 5.5, 6)What happens when the reapers come for Kaylee? Don't miss Volume Three of New York Times bestselling author Rachel Vincent's compelling, spellbinding Soul Screamers series.

IF I DIE
Thanks to her mother's sacrifice, Kaylee Cavanaugh has lived most of her life on borrowed time, but now that borrowed time is almost up. Kaylee has only seven days left to prepare for the end. To say goodbye. And yeah, to stop an incubus from preying on her high school. Tick tock...

BEFORE I WAKE
Dying wasn't easy for Kaylee, but faking life is a whole new kind of struggle. The only good moments are those spent in Tod's arms. But death hasn't stopped her old enemies, and now everyone Kaylee loves is in danger....

NEVER TO SLEEP First time in print!
Sophie Cavanaugh is sick of the social fallout from her cousin Kaylee's mental issues. Doesn't she realize people think "crazy" runs in the family? But then a cute boy, a fateful scream and a trip to a nightmare world leave Sophie wondering just what's real-and how to get home....

Soul Screamers... The last thing you hear before you die

Paperback, 768 pages
Published July 30th 2013 by Harlequin Teen

About Sophie
Who's Sophie you asked? Sophie is Kaylee's cousin with the same last name. We know Sophie is one spoiled child or at least she acts like it and despise her cousin because of all the weird things that goes on Kaylee is somehow involves and believes Kaylee should be put in a mental asylum.

But after IF I DIE, Sophie begins to understands but Never To Sleep takes place during If I DIE so I will keep all spoilers of IF I DIE locked.

So Never To Sleep? The title doesn't actually refer to never sleeping but it does means that Sophie's world the one she used to know will forever change.

Review
Sophie never paid attention to what her cousin Kaylee do, she believes that she is in a higher social ladder than her. People get them confused with being sisters rather than cousins because of their last name.

All Sophie wants is to live in her world, soon she learns that there is more to her world than she thinks . . . running into a new guy, she doesn't think anything but just how good looking he is but then things starts to happen.

Luca Tedesco will change Sophie's world forever especially when the two of them end up in the Netherworld at school where Netherworld's worst nightmares lingers.

Can Luca and Sophie survive the Netherworld?

I give this a 5 cat's Tails up, I'm really glad that Rachel decided to do this novella in Sophie's POV, I feel now I understands Sophie's a little bit better even if it took five books to get there
:-)

Meow, Meow, Meow (Ramble's new title)
I honestly can't believe I've waited so long to read this novella, however it was worth waiting for this volume set because it actually fits the timeline that Rachel have created for If I Die and Before I Wake.  Plus we finally got to learn more about Sophie in a way, with Sophie's heritage both her mother and father never believes that Sophie would have traits of a Bean Sidhe until now.

You know surely when Rachel had shared that she would be writing a Novella, many of us were hoping Nash, Emma, Addison, heck even Levi but I think choosing Sophie as the narrator was PERFECT!

Sophie isn't all mean she's like a tasty treat with a chewy inside, Rachel had admittedly that we aren't suppose to love Sophie or like her even because of the way she created Sophie but I think Sophie was being kept in the dark for so many years that she became the way she is.

She never understood why Kaylee had "panic attacks", she never understood why her cousin had to live with her after her parent's accident although Kaylee's dad lived. Sophie's dad Brendon simple just put  she's family no questions asks.

Now Luca Tedesco, can I just say he is impressively charming? Like really charming, I don't think he was trying too hard for Sophie because it was a mutual chemistry for the two.

I wished in some way that I met Luca earlier hence reading Never To Sleep but I couldn't because I was so excited to Before I Wake and that is when I meet Luca, then as I read on into the book . . . he and Sophie were an item.

After the event that happen in If I Die, Luca did provide information that Sophie was looking for and begins to understand the whole situation. In some way Sophie had felt bad that she was unaware of the things going on with her cousin.

In the end Luca will always be there for Sophie, to the very end of the world.

Now for an Excerpt of Steel Lily!

I’d never seen anyone like him in Dome Four. His jawbone was strong, his cheekbones set high. His nose was regal and straight and when my gaze reached his eyes, my breath caught. Stormy blue-grey eyes that reminded me of shale returned my gaze with seemingly genuine curiosity, if not a bit of humor. Strips of colored fabric were woven into his dreadlocked hair, giving it a wildly unique appearance that suited him. His smug expression made me realize he was enjoying this.
“Are you finished checking me out? If you’re not, that’s okay; I allow every new woman I meet a free five-minute gawking period. After that, it’ll cost you.”
Blood rushed to my face. I tore my eyes from his magnetic gaze and watched as he took a worn leather strap off his wrist. He pulled back his dreadlocks–deep brown streaked with blonde–into the strap. His devilish grin pulled his eyes tight at the corners. He was trouble incarnate. Trouble I may very well want to get into, given the right circumstances.
“You’re at five minutes and thirty seconds now,” he said in a purr as he leaned in toward me. I felt his breath against my cheek, and my heart raced. “I’m going to start taking payment, and I choose how that payment is issued.”
Before I could respond, Alice stirred groggily beside me. She rubbed her eyes as she sat up. “Where are we?”
“Good question,” piped Jaxon. “One that your friend here failed to ask, but it could have been because I rendered her speechless with my good looks.”
Alice moved to get a better look at him, but he emphatically covered his face, as though he were a vampire trying to block the sun. “Don’t look at me!” he cried, then grinned as he winked at me. “I don’t want to make two ladies swoon in such a short period of time. How would I entertain myself tonight?”
“You’re not that handsome,” I argued mulishly.
“There’s drool on your chin. Either you’re physically unable to keep your mouth shut, or I caused you to forget how. Since when I found you, you were drool free, I’m going with the assumption that it was me.” He fished in his pocket and offered me a piece of white silk. “Here, a handkerchief for your trouble.”

Totally to die for right?!

Now onto the interview!

Megan, thanks for lending out Avery and Jaxon for the day and visiting my blog. I hope you
don't mind if I ask them some serious questions.

So Jaxon and Avery, please have a seat and excuse the cat hair

on the couch, someone wanted to be brushed and it shedding
season again. Flying Hairballs!

Avery - You called Jaxon, Jax and you kissed him how was it?
::smiles:: Well, he’s not awful, by any means.
Jaxon: Wasn’t awful? Are you kidding me? Let me put it to you straight, Kat. I’m amazing
Avery: ::shakes head and leans in:: He’s good, but I think we need to practice.
Jaxon: They say practice makes perfect. I mean, I think I have that kissing thing down, but Avery
could use some practice. ::dodges Avery’s punch::

Avery - How are you doing controlling the elements, I know each time you try using the
elements you seem to pass out or take a turn for the worst.

It’s getting easier. We practice a lot and it’s getting better each day. Don’t worry, I’ll figure it out.
::smiles::

Jaxon - Do you remember a whole lot of what was being done to you?
I…I uh, I don’t really want to talk about it. Sorry. ::looks away::

I'm sorry . . .  I didn't mean to bring back bad memories for you! Well let's move on to the next
question

Jaxon - You assumed all girls falls for you but Avery (not at first) doesn't, how did that make you
feel?
Well, at first I wondered if she was a little special in the head, to be honest. ::laughs at Avery’s stink
eye:: Then I wondered if she didn’t like my cologne or something. But, as you see, she came around.
They all come around. ::winks::

Jaxon - Are you the one leaving little trinkets for Avery? If so that is so sweet of you! Also Why
Steel Lily for a nickname?
