Cover Reveal: Redesigned #2

Last week we reveal a new design for JLA's Lux series first volume set and now it's time to reveal Volume Two which consist of Opal and Origin.

Lux: Beginnings (Obsidian & Onyx) and Lux: Consequences (Opal & Origin) will both be releasing on June 3, 2014.

Lux: Beginnings (Obsidian & Onyx) official Blurb:

Obsidian
There's an alien next door. And with his looming height and eerie green eyes, he's hot...until he opens his mouth. He's infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, he lights me up with a big fat bulls-eye. Turns out he has a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal his abilities and the only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.
Onyx
Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro alien connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems. I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

Lux: Consequences (Opal & Origin) official blurb:

Opal
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing alien hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Origin
Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Book Review: Foreplay

Foreplay (The Ivy Chronicles #1) by Sophie Jordan

Foreplay (The Ivy Chronicles, #1)
Before she goes after the life she’s always wanted, she’s about to find the one she needs.

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

Paperback, 320 pages

Published November 5th 2013 by William Morrow

Review
Sophie Jordan masters her first NA book, Pepper's life is all about finding herself but she want to be able to get the man of her dreams. She consider herself inexperience in some areas so her girlfriends takes her out clubbing to learn everything about hooking up.

Although Pepper didn't think that the stranger that assist her with her car would be at the same bar.

Reece is that type where he's not looking for commitment and if someone really want sexual favors he just might do it but when he see the girl with the car problems, he wonders what's brings her to his bar?

When Pepper approach him for an unusual request, he just might be willing to give this fling a chance.

When I read Foreplay I could see the characters really taking a ride of their life, by making their own personal goals and meeting their own wants and needs. In the end they made their ultimate decision, to be or not to be together.

I give this a 5 Cat's Tails Up!!! I really love the book as well the characters, Reece stole my heart from first read and reading him and Pepper together made me swoon for them.

MEOW . . . MEOW . . . MEOW
My thoughts on Foreplay, I knew that I wanted this book and that I needed to get my paws on it as well diving into the world of New Adult because oddly enough I haven't read very many and there are ton that I want to read.

Foreplay deals with Pepper who plan everything in life, she excels in her determination and her education the only thing that was missing was her dream man Hunter, who's a family friend of many years but the problem was that he was seeing somebody else.

Pepper spend her life pining for Hunter and has all these imagination about what her life would be like if she was with Hunter and even marry Hunter. But Pepper felt a little self-conscious about one little thing, having S-E-X  and what girl wouldn't if they haven't done it and being at a certain age where you believe that everyone around you does it.

So what does Pepper do? Well with a little push and shove, her girlfriends took her to a local bar for Pepper to scout out a guy with experience and have a little foreplay. I love the girlfriends that Pepper has otherwise Pepper's life would have been very boring.

Reece was as cute and hot as he sounded!!!! I fell for him right away, probably quicker that Pepper did because you know that there's something about him that makes him so mysterious that you want learn more of him and about him.

Yes I'm sure some could have saw that Pepper and Reece were growing together and I did too but I also knew that Pepper was hesitant because she thought she knew what she wants but then when she gets it, something is missing . . . the fire was missing.

The ending did not disappoint me and it was so sweet what Reece did! Foreplay was truly amazing and I can't wait for Tease. Bring it on New Adults books!!!!

Sun Damage (Sunshine Series #3)

Life wasn't what Sophie was expecting, so why should death be any different?

She’s come back from swimming between the two, and every problem she left is still there. And then some.
There’s the human world, where she has a brother on the verge of ruins, band mates all set to go on tour, and people she thought she wouldn't be seeing for a long time showing up.

Then there’s her new world, where she’s seeing and hearing things that should not be heard or seen. Where Myles knows more about her than she could have ever guessed. She still doesn't know exactly why Michael is tormenting her, but somehow, everything is connected.
The monsters are closing in on all sides and the question is, will Sophie be able to defeat them before it all ends?

Sun Poisoned
Sun Damage

I'm so excited to be part of this blog tour! I can't believe just under a year ago Nikki has reach out to me to review her books!!! Now finding out it was Vampires, I really was on that whole FAD where Vampires were old news but Nikki's Sunshine series wasn't just about Vampires. It was about a girl with a rare sun condition and having her own three man band and her vampire boyfriend and a sociopath vampire out to kill her.

The dark and gritty vampire series has it's own stand out personality, so if you haven't read her books do it NOW!!!!.

To read both of my review of Sunshine and Sun Poisoned, click on the links and also check out my Character interview with Sophie and Myles after Sun Poisoned.

Guest Post

Today I didn't want to do the average interview questions about the book or about her because really I've done that. I wanted something different so when we both talked about a post the question of "What your Playlist" came up. So I asked Nikki, What's your Playlist?

Book Review: Shift

Shift (Shade #2) By Jeri Smith-Ready

Shift (Shade, #2)
In the second book of the Shade trilogy from Jeri Smith-Ready, Aura is torn between the two boys who hold her heart and determined to unravel the secrets of the Shift.

Aura's life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can't deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she's not sure that she wants to.

Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one at her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past; the mystery of the Shift. She not the only one seeking answers, though, and danger grows as she discovers new truths. Who can Aura trust with her secrets? And to whom will she give her heart?

Paperback, 400 pages

Published May 1st 2012 by Simon Pulse (first published April 28th 2011)

Review
The sequel to the Shade series was filled with unexpected possibilities, after Logan went all Shade he's gone for months until one night he finally return but not in the way Aura would thought. Things starts to unravel when Aura and Zach's project continues to grow, but there are secrets that even Aura doesn't know that may impact her life.

The more digging Aura does, the more DMP becomes even more so curious about who she is and what's she is. Ewoyn contains the hidden secrets and soon she has to trust Aura and Zach to protect the secrets that could mean everything to Aura.

Aura still struggles with giving her all for Zach when Logan still lurks but just how far is Aura willing to go to either be with Zach or can she finally let go of Logan?

I give squel to Shade an 5 Cat's Tails Up, I love every moments that were between Zack and Aura but as well the secrets that lies in Aura's mom journal are soon to be reveal.

MEOW . . . MEOW . . . MEOW
Wow I knew that shade wasn't going to be the end of Logan but what I didn't expect was him to be fully solid on the night he shows up after so many months, Aura took those precious moments. But then Logan turns back into a ghost, no explanation to why he was able to become solid and how is it possible that a ghost that went Shade can turn back into a ghost.

Zach and Aura are hitting it off, but Zach is still somewhat jealous that Aura is still holding on to Logan and when Zach asks Aura to prom somehow that whole idea got screwed up either because Zach was mad that Aura couldn't move on from Logan or because Logan couldn't move on.

Their project was still going on learning but then suddenly Ewoyn has to take off once she gave Aura's parts of her mom's journals . . . the missing pages. To Aura that is the key to finding out who her father was and who her mom was as well since she died when she was very young.

DMP takes Aura and Zach into custody for unknown reasons but luckily Zach and Aura breaks free and  run into the unknown woods. Now I like scenes where character runs into the woods, I'm not sure why but it always intrigue me when they're on the run from something and the woods take reality away.

Now Aura and Zach go to prom, oh how I remember my proms days however when Zach goes to Prom with Becca she has her own wicked games the oops-I-hit-the-dial button by mistake. Aura is torn to feeling hurt and embarrassed. It was awkward for a while but Zach made it to a point to Aura that he wants her and only her.

The ending was my second favorite thing, Zach purchase plane tickets + room at a castle = for a couple days in Ireland. Zach couldn't be anymore perfect :-)

Book Review: Shade

Shade (Shade #1) By Jeri Smith-Ready

Shade (Shade, #1)Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.

Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.

Well, sort of.

Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.

It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding--and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.

As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift.

Paperback, 309 pages

Review
Aura has a gift but are times that she's sees it as a curse, she was born one minutes after the SHIFT and now because of that she can communicates with ghosts whether she wants to or not.

But when her rock star boyfriend dies, she thought it was the end of the world until she sees his ghost, now she looks at this like a second chance with him but how can she be with him if he's dead?

Then comes along Zachary, Aura's research partner and suddenly she might have a chance of a normal life until it's reveal that they share the same birthdays but Zachary was born one minutes before the Shift.

Will Aura be able to move on with her life after the passing of Logan or will she still hold on to Logan for as long he's around?

Shade gave me a fresh new read for once where it's not all paranormal or supernatural(s) it's a simple of having the ability to see ghosts or not to see ghosts. I'm giving this Four and a half Cat's Tails UP for the start of a new book series to read.

MEOW . . . MEOW . . . MEOW
I'm glad I set a goal for what books I should be reading, it helps get my TBR pile shorter (HA! In my dreams) that list will never stop growing but I can now finally say I'm reading the Shade series by Jeri Smith-Ready.

Aura seems like your average girl, she has a rock star boyfriend but she also can communicate with ghosts not that she's wants to anyways. But on the night of her boyfriend Logan's concert, he just agreed to a record label but then no one expected him to do the unthinkable.

Logan's death stunned everyone and now Logan's is back as a ghost, now his family and Aura are trying to help him pass on before he becomes a Shade.

While Aura works on her research project with Zachary the new guy at school with a sexy accent, he starts becoming friends with her but soon after learning about what Aura can do, he wants to know more and to share more with her.

Aura grows into Zachary as well but she struggle with trying to move on with Logan still hanging around and she's a little confused with what she wants. She wants to be with Zach because he's here and real and not dead but she want Logan as well she wanted that one night with him before everything turns upside down and he's dead.

What I thought about Logan was the cliche type, rock star . . . fame . . . drugs . . . no goal in life and I hated that from the start but when Logan becomes a ghost, he's different. Different for himself, his family and Aura, he regret doing what he's done but he can't undo the mistake he's made.

His parents and siblings wants him to passed on as peacefully as he can but his little last show of the night on earth as a ghost turns to be something horrid and worrisome for the family when he became a Shade and disappeared.

What I thought about Zachary, how can you not like an accent? he's also smart in his own way and completely shy around Aura. When he finds out that he and Aura share the same birthday, he also shares that he can ward off ghosts around him by wearing anything red or at least that how I understood it.

Their birthday date was pretty awesome because just last summer I was in Baltimore and it took me away to figure out that the series was taken place in Baltimore. So the historic ships? yep I've been there but what's interesting is that DMP was looking for them at the time.

The scene I like the most was when Aura and Zach were hiding from the DMP on one of the historic ships and that's where they share their first kiss. But also that is when Zach's dad comes in and interrupt them, talk about AWKWARD!!!

I want to share some photos I took while in Baltimore and perhaps you'll see some of the aspects from the book :-)

So if you don't know this already, I love Rachel Vincent as an author and I love every single one of her books she's written. Now last year around this time, she ended with two series one being her trilogy Unbound series but more importantly she ended her longest series Soul Screamers.

So as you can imagine I do have all of her books, I have the US editions, Signed editions, Volume editions, and UK Editions. So that is what?

Signed Editions: Books 1-5
UK Editions: Books 3-5
I have all the US editions including the two anthology that two of Rachel's novella/short stories as well all of the volumes that are currently out

So in total I have 20 Soul Screamers books, and they will add on until I get UK (1-2 & 6-7) editions and purchase an extra copy of book 6 and 7 to add to my signed copies. And then we got the final the very FINAL Soul Screamer Volume.
That means 8 more is needed . . . AHHHH!!!

So I can't wait for Soul Screamers Volume 5 to not only see the beautfiul cover face to face but also to read the new edition of Niederwald and a new story told by the Hudson Brothers "Last Request"

Book Review: Bitter Sweet Love

Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements 0.5) by

Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements, #0.5)In a sizzling prequel novella to her new series THE DARK ELEMENTS, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout draws readers into the extraordinary, irresistible world of Wardens and demons.
Dez wasn't just Jasmine's crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything...right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn't help that Jas's father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.
And now he's back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn't taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again...

Kindle Edition, 105 pages

Published December 1st 2013 by Harlequin Teen

Who doesn't love Freebies? and this by far was the best freebie I could ask for . . . I already have read White Hot Kiss but I had the fear of not ever getting to the novella because I'm still not all out for ebooks, I do read ebooks and manage with the ones I have but I prefer the print any day.

Review
Before Layla there were Jasmine and Dez, they been friends since they were kids but when they started growing up a lot of things changes.

When Dez returns back in Jasmine's life, ready to claim her Jasmine can't risk her heart being broke again by the same person that she thought she would spend her life with.

So before Jas decide to be CLAIMED, she present a challenge for Dez

The Challenge? Fulfill her every demands in Seven days

5 Cat's Tails UP, Bitter Sweet Love shows that Old Love . . . Old Flame Never dies, sometimes it just take a kiss to ignite that fire once again.

MEOW . . . MEOW . . . MEOW

I love love Jen's new YA series The Dark Elements and I love the fact that she not only released the first book of it's series but the novella as well.

In WHK we meet Jasmine and Dez briefly and we actually get to see what the social and society needs for the world of Wardens. This story is not just about what the rule of life is for a Warden, it a story about a friendship that began long ago that suddenly disappears.

Jasmine and Dez were like two peas in a pod and for the most part, Jasmine's father have always view Dez as her mate in the future. But Dez breaks Jasmine's heart and now has to work up earning her trust all over again.

Dez knew that it wasn't going to be easy but I think Jasmine was in the same boat, they both have instant chemistry and that "first kiss" they share after so many years was WOW.

Jasmine is still hurt and I don't blame her for being unsure of Dez after he being gone for so many years without word, so her challenge to him is to fulfilled everything she wants to do in 7 days where she'll decide if Yes or No she'll take Dez as her mate.

These characters really have a sense of adventure that I think everyone should have because you only live once but for a Warden there are so many dangers to the females Wardens than the men

The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could. But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay… "Constantly entertaining...the narrative sizzles with as much tension as romance." WHITE HOT KISS!

White Hot Kiss
ABOUT WHITE HOT KISS: One kiss could be the last. Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever. Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.
