Armchair BEA Day 4: Ethics and Non-Fiction

It's day 4 of Armchair BEA 2013, today we'll be discussing on ethics and Non-Fiction

 

Ethics:

Do you have recommendations to new bloggers to ensure credit is given to whom/where credit is due?

 

Alway give credits to the author, there are too many ways where someone will claim something that isn't theirs.

 

If you are doing a cover reveal, give the credits to the photographer and his/her company that they worked so hard for. But also give credit toward the blog tour people that put it all together for us to share.

 

There should never be a time where there isn't credit needing to be give, unless it is your own but if you're using stuff that has a name behind it just be sure to indicate credit is shared.

 

Have you had an experience with plagiarism? How did you deal with it?

 

No one has complained but most of my posts does have credits somewhere along the line, and if the senario were to happen . . . well I guess I'll just have to figure it out then.  

 

What are the guidelines as bloggers that we must follow?

 

• There are a few things I've seen on the internet that really throws me off, because to me it like huh? What? This make no sense at all.
 
• Don't quickly judge an author's cliff hangers, some authors actually get bombard with negative reviews when the reader didn't like what he/she done. But you have to understand that the author fights with their brain during those times Should I? Or Should I not? But it works out better.
 
• Authors don't always know if their books are released early or not or even if netgallery has them, an author had an unfortunate twitter hatred when the reader share it's excitement of the new book. So don't expect they know everything.
 
• If you didn't read the book or dislike it very much, don't write an review . . . what's the point? UNLESS you are going to give an honest review.
 
• Link up your review to the author's FB page or Twitter, even though they might not read it because some rather stay away from reviews as much they can but they appreciate that you shared your review.

 

  

Non-Fiction:

 

Do you read non-fiction? Why or why not?

 

Not partically, as far to the reason why or why not. I think I like the fiction world better, I like to read imaginations and read the creativity that the author spend months maybe years writing it.

 

Is there a specific type of non-fiction that you prefer to read (i.e., historical, true crime, memoirs, biographies, etc.)?

 

I like to read biographies on amazing animals, like for example Dewey the small town library cat. That was truly amazing, animals has a unique story none are ever the same and some were even mention on television!!!  I've also dabbled in medical/health autobiography because I do like science and I'm very involve with medical stuff and health.

 

What is the perfect book for a first-time non-fiction reader?

 

MMM I'm not sure if I can pick out because 1) I haveen't read any in awhile like 5 years and 2) because mine is solely on animals biographies and medical/health.
