Book Review: Trial by Charm

Trial by Charm by Jolene Buchheit

Trial By Charm (The Charmed Trials Series Book 1)Seventeen-year-old Julia Wright doesn't understand her friends' obsession with boys. She's never even had a crush, and proudly maintains her composure no matter who is in her presence. In fact, the hotter a guy is to her friends, the more annoying he seems to Julia. When she is blackmailed into being the manager of the men's swim team, she finds herself face to face with the worst of them all.
Team Captain Vander Thelxinoe is the typical self-assured jock, with a not-so-typical ability to change people's minds at will. It's a talent he uses often to get what he wants--only his charms don't work on Julia. Now he is anxious to figure out why, and the closer he tries to get, the more desperate she is to stay away--especially when he somehow awakens a side of her she never knew existed.
Their quite unexpected friendship puts Julia in the middle of a quest she doesn't quite understand. As her familiar world starts to unravel around her, Julia must partner with the one person who knows how to push her buttons--and, in doing so, discovers the unbelievable truth about who she really is.
Can Julia and Vander survive the trial set before them, or will they succumb to a more terrifying fate?

MEOW . . . MEOW . . . MEOW
Julia has always had a distaste for boys, she just always have. But when Vander Thelxinoe the heartthrob of Eisenhower High is on every girl's radar, to Julia, he's the biggest flirt of the school and he's always trying the moves on her.

What's interesting about Julia is that she really could care less about Vander, but yet she spends all of her time saying why she dislike him and focuses on him ALL the TIME. But when it was just supposed to be just the girls going for a swim outside of school hours, something about Vander that made her obsession with him grow even more.

Vander got a boat load of secrets, it seems that the only person that is breaking the lock of those secrets is Julia. However he's doing everything he can to not lead her astray knowing of what to come for him, but he can't seems to let her go, he also has growing problems.

The overall theme of the book, I enjoyed however I find it hard to see the Greek mythology connection  but I still had enjoyed it.  Hopefully the next book, there's more of an Greek mythology influence, and learning much more about what Julia and Vander can do.  So yes this book does have a tiny cliffhanger but don't worry, at least there's more to come.

I give this 4 Cat Paws, mainly this was a good starter for the series.
