Bitterroot by SM Reine and Heather Hildenbrand
Seventeen year-old Regan Vuk has lived her whole life under the shadow of her mother, the pack alpha. Everything Regan has done has been to prepare her for the role of alpha someday. She is fast, smart, and determined. According to her own pack members, she is a shoo-in.
Charlie spent her adolescence drifting from place to place with a mother who only wanted to hide her illegitimate daughter from the unforgiving reality of pack dynamics. All Charlie has ever wanted is to know her father--and any other family that's been kept from her all these years. But most of all, she wants a place to belong in the world.
When Charlie finds out the only way to fit in with her new family is to defeat her long-lost sister, she refuses. That is until she learns that the strange and alluring vampire she's befriended, Owen, is the same vampire prince that's been promised the winner. Regan has no doubt that, although she loathes the vampires, it will be her who "wins" Owen.
Only problem: Charlie's already fallen for him.

Review
Two different worlds, two different point of view
Both Charlie and Regan are in line for alpha but the competition strain the opportunity of having an sisterbond.
Regan's goal is to become alpha and null the treaty at all cost while Charlie lost in the dark, making friends with the vampire prince.
Charlie might be what the two species need to create everlasting peace.
Together secrets will be reveal and new allies will surface as they track down the killer that killed Regan's mom.
But is the killer one step ahead of them?
I give this an four Cat's Tails Up, overall I like part two and three, there was more oomph with the characters and the story line.
MEOW . . . MEOW . . . MEOW
Okay I'm going to be honest, while I gave my review of part one an 3.7 only because it felt a little cliche to me. But after a few talk I decided to read part two and three, my thoughts on the two parts had a different reaction to me from part one did.Regan and Charlie both are still needing to compete with one another to determine who would be the next alpha. Both girls have their own disadvantages and advantages, both have different point of views about whose the real enemy.
When I had said that I felt this story was cliche from the first part of bitterroot, I still had that thoughts but as I read more and more into part two and three. There was something that stood out, I can't pinpoint what it was that stood out for me but at least something did.
Charlie is an character without judgement, she's that person you would call Switzerland because she stands in a very neutral place and she exhibits that neutral mindset. Her admiration for the vampire Prince Owen, she doesn't sense him as the enemy and neither does Owen. Together those two really stands strong with one another and gets along with one another rather than having conflicts like Owen does with Regan.
Regan's mindset is all on the alpha status, but in part three Carter an lifetime long friend starts showing as a love interest which I figure that Carter has always have had a crush on Regan. But something never had really clicked until now where just everything is at stake.
The title Bitterroot I had wonder what it represent and now it was revealed in part two that it was a flower that was toxin to werewolves and that there was no cure. OR IS THERE? Secrets were starting to be revealed in part three of Bitterroot and the competition was on! Love was heating up!
It will leave you wondering who will earn Alpha status rights which will be revealed towards the end of part three.
