Book Releases: Labor Day

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

The Coldest Girl in ColdtownTana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.

All Our Yesterdays (Cassandra Chronicles #1) by: Cristin Terrill

All Our Yesterdays (Cassandra Chronicles, #1)"You have to kill him." Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain.

Only Em can complete the final instruction. She’s tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present—imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called the doctor while war rages outside.

Marina has loved her best friend James since the day he moved next door when they were children. A gorgeous, introverted science prodigy from one of America’s most famous families, James finally seems to be seeing Marina in a new way, too. But on one disastrous night, James’s life crumbles apart, and with it, Marina’s hopes for their future. Now someone is trying to kill him. Marina will protect James, no matter what. Even if it means opening her eyes to a truth so terrible that she may not survive it. At least not as the girl she once was.

All Our Yesterdays is a wrenching, brilliantly plotted story of fierce love, unthinkable sacrifice, and the infinite implications of our every choice.

Eternal (Winterhaven #3) by

Eternal (Winterhaven, #3)True love and destiny collide in the conclusion to the Haven trilogy, which Booklist called “a blend of the Gemma Doyle trilogy, the Twilight saga, and Lois Duncan’s thrillers.”

Forced to endure the violent punishment of the Tribunal for murders he has no recollection of committing, Aidan is slowly rotting away in a Paris dungeon. Violet is all but an unreachable dream to him now.

But unlike Aidan, Violet has not given up hope as she works tirelessly with Matthew, her guardian and protector, to prove Aidan’s innocence and unravel the haunting vision that plagues her thoughts—the death of someone closest to her.

Determined to set Aidan free, Violet discovers that a dangerous vampire war is brewing—and that Aidan may be at the center of it all. It’s only when the war reaches the doors of Winterhaven and tragedy strikes the school that Violet has to finally accept her fate. But that could mean losing Aidan—forever.

With no other option, Violet must choose between true love and fulfilling her destiny…unless she can find a way to have them both

Currently Reading!

I know I said I wasn't going to have time to read books now that I've started school and math seems to drop homework in my lap. Each assignment is due in two days after. It's been assigned HUH? Now I'm not a brainiac on math but I do okay but some things just take awhile to sink into my full creativity/anatomy & physiology/want-to-read/want-to-write/and-focus-on-math BRAIN.

Yes a lot goes on in my Brain . . . MEEEOOOWWW let's move on,

Disconnect (Divided Worlds, #1)I'm still reading Disconnected (Divided World #1) for the Divided World Tours, I have an excerpt coming up on Friday September  6th that is organized by Xpresso Books Tour  I also will be posting the book review on the same post. So goal this weekend? Finished the book and continue writing the review.

Omens (Cainsville, #1)
Now my Litterbox came with a new book! Omens by Kelley Armstrong, now I've never read anything by her but when I heard about Omens it drew me in. I mean how could you not with the title or the cover?

I've barely begun it but I'm much further into the book that I thought, it's that good! I'm not playing with just any "toys" I'm playing with a catnip filled toy. Achoo! Sniff, Sniff.

Note: I've barely made a dent into the book but its catnip worthy to play with over and over again.   Plus there's a Cainsville Files, App

First ever interactive story for Kelley Armstrong–and Penguin–out now
A little quip about it
Cainsville Files features Jenn McCoy, a struggling private investigator who finds herself searching for her missing high-school sweetheart—possibly a victim of the notorious Valentine Killer. The gamer’s choices will either help Jenn solve the case—or doom her to a number of tricky fates!
Both new readers and devoted fans will be able to absorb the exciting plot choices offered as the book and the game have been designed as stand-alone works; however, there is plenty of fun crossover for those who have read the book

So that all I have to say for now :-)

Blogger Times: Review & Hiatus

Sadly this will be one of the few blogging I will do since school is starting but I'm just letting you know that while I may be absent, I'll still try to blog every once in awhile.

My two topic today is Reviewing and Hiatus . . .

Reviewing
Blogging is something I love to do along with reading books however one thing that will always remain a challenge is reviewing. Yeah you think it's easy but it not when you are struggling to find the words and give a brief inside look of a book. Plus you don't want to spoil things, but my problem is determining what's a spoiler and what's not. I'm working hard on re-creating my reviewing craft but then my next problem is having the time to read and review.
I do have two books that are going to be reviewed because I've read them or I'm a part of a blog tour, so I'm battling blogger fatigue as well.

So how about you? How do you review and what are some of your guidelines or rules you follow?

SassyCat on Hiatus
On to hiatus, I'll be starting school very quickly here and I doubt I'll have time to read but if I do get a chance to read that would be great! But those reviews will not be going up anytime after I read the book, time is permitted. As far as blogging like I do now may be minimum but I plan to do the books releases posts since I have a word doc with a list of books being release certain months and weeks. So I will on weekends be composing and scheduling them. Hopefully there'll be a few Mouse Watch as well. Just because my blog is going to be under a long cat nap,  I'm still 100% committed to my blog but now I have to commit to school.

So wish me good luck this semester and MEOW for now

Don't Look Now (Don't Turn Around) by Michelle Gagnon

Don't Look Now (PERSEF0NE, #2)The jaw-dropping sequel to breakout YA thriller Don't Turn Around, which Kirkus Reviews named a Best Book of the Year, calling it "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for teens, a surefire hit"

Noa Torsen is on the run. Having outsmarted the sinister corporation Pike & Dolan, Noa and her friend Zeke now move stealthily across the country, protecting runaways before they become test subjects for P&D's horrific experiments. Noa knows all too well what that feels like: Whatever they did to her has left her exhausted and scared.

Back in Boston, Peter anxiously follows Noa's movements from his computer, using his hacker skills to feed her the information she needs to stay alive. But he's desperate to do something more, especially when he learns what P&D has done to his ex-girlfriend Amanda.

Then, in an explosive confrontation, Noa and her team are trapped in the one place they thought was safe. It will take everything Noa and Peter have to bring down the corporation before it gets them first. And with no one to trust and enemies hiding at every turn, they may be the only people alive who can.
This stunning second book in the critically acclaimed Don't Turn Around trilogy raises the stakes to their absolute limit and will leave readers begging for the exciting conclusion, Don't Let Go.

EXCERPT
Out of nowhere, his breath ran like warm water over the back of my neck. I closed my eyes for a moment, then forced them back open. No. Not Jaxon. Nothing for Jaxon.
“Now it’s Mr. Pierce, eh?” He put one of his large hands at the small of my back to lead me toward Xander’s office. “I think I’m going backwards.”
“You are backwards, Jaxon.”
He laughed and muscled around me, sliding far too much of his toned body against me as he moved past. His chiseled chest pressed against mine as he leaned in, inches from my mouth. I sucked in a breath to avoid his scent. No dice. It still overpowered me. His smile was evident even in the low light, and I bit my lip to keep from sighing. His hand brushed my cheek, and he ran a finger down the side of my neck, sending shivers through me. “If I were backwards, I’d be Noxaj,” he whispered huskily. “What kind of name is that? It’s not sexy at all.”
“I never said you were sexy,” I whispered as his hands roved through my hair at the base of my neck.
“No, no you didn’t…” His lips were on my neck. His hands worked down my back.
I stood there like a wet noodle, incapable of responding.
Do something! Touch him back! my brain screamed, but my body felt detached. Do something, or he’s going to think you’re on the relationship short bus.
He pulled away to search my eyes, but for what, I didn’t know.
I willed myself to give him something. Anything. An awkward grin, accompanied by a cough was all I could muster. Really, Avery? Seriously? I knew later replays of this moment in my mind, no matter how awful, wouldn’t compare to the actual event.
